Mindful Movement

A health coach mentors and guides their clients towards their fitness goals using a series of strategies including:

  • Teaching movement techniques to prevent injury
  • Developing personalized programming to keep fitness fun and engaging
  • Motivating and encouraging clients to achieve their goals
  • Tracking progress
  • Providing accountability to keep clients focused on the long game

At Michael Baker Wellness, we view physical activity as an absolute necessity. Any way you choose to move your body is physical activity, and it’s essential to listen to what your body needs and choose movement that feels authentic, joyful, and supportive for you. It’s also important to know that putting your body in motion is a powerful act that benefits more than your muscles. Movement gets energy flowing, reduces stress, boosts mood, and can even sharpen your ability to focus.

Prioritizing physical activity is an act of self-love and self-care. By carving out time to move your body, you’re giving yourself the gift of energy, focus, and strength. Physical activity is bio-individual. You can create more space for movement in a way that feels natural, authentic, and enjoyable and adds to your overall quality of life. Your approach can be whatever works for you and will change and evolve over time.

25 Year Work From Home Professional

"Work From Home" "Digital Professional"

As someone who has worked from home for over 25 years, and a father of two children, I understand what it’s like to struggle to balance a healthy life with professional and familial responsibilities. Over time, I’ve devised highly effective tactics that make it easier to maximize various elements of my daily life to keep everything in balance.

As a digital professional, I am always learning and evolving at warp speed. I spend a lot of time on the computer, fully connected to devices. The stress of this type of work can be overwhelming. But I love it! How is that possible? Well, I have developed healthy systems to detach digitally and re-claim the time stolen from commuting, digital frustrations, useless notifications, instant availability, and stressful online engagement.

Detach From Digital - "Digital Detox"

With the advent of AI, web3, VR, the Metaverse, and other more invasive forms of technology, it’s becoming more and more essential for people to have a reliable and effective method for disconnecting digitally.

Digital frustration is everywhere, it's almost imprisoning at this point. This is something I believe that needs to be acknowledged. We're never going to disconnect our lives fully but we need disconnect breaks.

Nature, family, exercise, yoga, running, working on your home, walking outside, running errands, playing with your kid. What ever it is, do it without digital distractions.

I'd love to be your tour guide for the process of shutting down for 15 minutes, 45 minutes, an entire day... liberating your brain and time.

Mobility, Strength, Sustainable Weight Loss

As a parent reaching his 50s, my health has become a top priority in my life. Maybe it’s my version of a mid-life crisis. I don't want a Porsche. I want to retain full mobility, maintain muscle mass, lose fat, gain endurance, avoid chronic disease, and - most importantly - remain present, vibrant, and active.

I'm looking to inspire and educate people over the age of 40 who knows that they can feel better but might not know how to get there. It took me 30 years to really learn and understand nutrition, my body, and what I need as an individual to feel and look my best, forever. I hope I can help you get there too!

As a certified IIN Health Coach and E-RYT Yoga Teacher, I help my clients take control of their bodies and their lives. I am well-educated in healthy eating, mindful movement and providing nutrition advice, guidance and accountability. It's something I love to do.

Health Coaches Are Just What The Doctor Ordered
Doctors are advising patients to seek out Health Coaches to help implement their dietary and exercise recommendations.

Did your therapist recommend you try yoga for anxiety management? Did your cardiologist recommend you implement a Mediterranean diet along with a low-intensity exercise program? Did your physical therapist tell you to lift light weights and stretch more? A doctor may tell a patient to eat less, exercise more, take your medicine and come back in three months but not how to execute this plan. This is exactly why you would reach out for help.

Integrated Healthcare

Health Coaches: The Missing Link

As allied providers, Health Coaches play a valuable role in integrated healthcare, helping patients truly heal through implementing sustainable lifestyle changes in a well-coordinated effort across the care team. As a health coach, yoga teacher and personal trainer, I can teach you how and be on call to help whenever you have problems or questions.

I will give sound nutrition & physical activity guidance, advice and provide accountability. However, I am not qualified to provide advice regarding a client’s medical care or their treatment. This does not mean that I cannot work with my clients to achieve health goals, as many health issues stem from the overconsumption of sugar, processed foods, processed grains, processed oils, alcohol and living a predominantly sedentary lifestyle. Just as I did years ago.

I look to meet clients where they’re at, find out what’s holding them back and go forward from there. Together we come up with attainable goals and a plan that’s easy and accessible to implement. Small actionable steps. Nothing drastic! If you need help implementing a recommendation from your doctor, please reach out!
